Yesterday,you received twenty children at the door of Helheim. Since you,Dark Mother Hel,are the special guardian of children taken too soon,I know you will welcome them w/open arms. Anyway,the ignorant rednecks understanding of First Amendment rights is that it only applies to other narrow-minded hicks. Keep your damn prayers at home and in your fucking churches! School prayer is unconstitutional for a reason.

Brave Merida and Artemis/Diana

I've been meaning to do this analysis earlier,but I just got too preoccupied. The week before I purchased Brave on DVD five months after seeing it at the movies. I couldn't help but notice so many parallels between Merida,her story and the Greek goddess,Artemis.

*WARNING:* If you plan on seeing the film and don't want spoilers,don't read any further. For those of you have already seen it or don't care about the aforementioned spoilers,proceed:

Merida ultimately desires freedom and excels at archery. Artemis is an avowed virgin and an excellent marksman w/her silver bow and arrows. Both prefer the solitude of the wilderness and enjoy challenging gender roles. Bears play an important role in the lives of both. In addition to Queen Elinor's transformation into a bear,there are a few tussles w/a demon bear called Mor'du (who used to be a prince of a forgotten kingdom). Bears are sacred to Artemis and in one version of the story of Callisto,a nymph and one-time follower,she was turned into the bear by the goddess as punishment when she became pregnant by the latter's father,Zeus and later became the constellation Ursa Major. Also,in the story of the huntress,Atlanta,the goddess sent a she-bear to nurse the infant when she was abandoned by her parents.

Maybe I'm just connecting A to B when they're not really connected,but it's something I can't ignore.

Mitt Romney,Todd Akin and Rich Mourdock Get What they Deserve and Then Some

Unless you've been living in a cave the past two days ago,you know by now that Mitt Romney,Todd Akin,and Richard Mourdock lost the election. The American people (women esp.) just said no to these self-righteous misogynists. It's very important for Christians who support these assholes to believe that followers of Christianity are above atheists,polytheists and anyone outside their circle. It's the only religion that condemns pride while breeding arrogance. Bible thumpers turn the world into a pyramid and they put themselves and like-minded individuals on top. Everybody else deserves to be on the bottom. They think of their religion as a magic cloak that makes them impenetrable. Romney and his missus thought they shouldn't have to show their tax returns,insisting it's against their Mormon faith. Also,who could forget Ann's uppity statement, "We've given all you people all you need to know." Obviously,the Romneys thought they were royalty and no one had the right to question them in any way. Mitt might've got away w/murder in prep school when he wasn't disciplined for cutting of his gay class mate's hair while four or five of his goons held the poor kid,but it wasn't going to be Romney's dirty little secret when he decided he wanted the presidency. Worst of all,Mitt was unrepentant,writing it off as a prank or "forgetting" the incident. John Lauber may have passed away,but the truth didn't die with him. Sooner or later Maat will get you,and,on election night,it happened to three men who deserved it more than anything.

I have too many cherry-picking evangelists in my family and I hope that every homophobic conservative stuck their heads in their toilets and wept.
