Why anybody (particularly my paternal relatives) would follow and worship this sadistic,Machiavellian,and abusive entity is beyond my comprehension. Like many abusive control freaks,the being monotheists refer to as Yahweh,Jehovah,Allah (among other titles) eroded my self-esteem (no one can ever live up to His impossible standards),lied to me (as he lied to Abraham,Adam and Eve and others),made promises (eternal life and the kingdom of Heaven) He had no intention of keeping (making it so damn hard,if not impossible,for just anybody to obtain,no matter how much they try to get things right) and temporarily driving a wedge between myself and my mother long after realizing Christianity's so-called just,benevolent and wise god and that church's pastor were nothing more than corrupt narcissists who got an ego high off manipulating their flock and rewarding that devotion with little more than an empty IOU (the Kingdom of Heaven) .
The god of Abraham is a depraved despot,corrupt con artist,and abusive parent/spouse all in one package. In the OT,He slaughters innocent children (Exodus),admits being turned on by the smell of burning flesh,allows women to be raped,only to add insult to injury by insisting she be married off to her own rapist and let's not forget the death penalty for gays,non-Christians,teens who get drunk on the weekends and sass the parents,anyone dumb enough to work on Sunday (less cops on the beat would be a dream-come-true for any career criminal) as well as that adorable baby calf who was carnally abused by that mentally deranged ranch hand on J.R.'s farm last year down in Phoenix,Arizona.
Anyone who considers a god who engages in this kind of stuff "just,wise and benevolent",I'd hate to know what constitutes "unfairness,ignorance and depravity" in their world. And any book that sanctions slavery,homophobia,misogyny,child abuse,ethnic cleansing,torture (for an individual's,divine or otherwise,sadistic enjoyment),religious intolerance,domestic violence and other various atrocities should NEVER be classified as holy scripture.
That was at least fourteen years before. I have since been been delivered from Yahweh's evil claws and my emotional wounds have been tended by the Goddess who accepts me for who I am instead of telling who I should be as well as helping me discover my true spirit (one that the Christian god and that manipulative pastor would never allow).
This site is not directed at Christians who love,treat others the way they want to be treated and are generally decent all-around people,but toward the holier-than-thou,quick-to-judge,Armageddon-obsessing hypocrites who arrogantly proclaim everyone's going to hell except them. As C.S. Lewis himself put it, "There's nothing worse than a Christian who tortures in the name of religion."
